The nature of such work requires a very high standard of health, safety and environment practice within the Company and its staff. Indepth and ongoing driver training is paramount to achieving the performance required for such a contract.

STOCK, RURAL & BULK

Service to the rural community is synonymous with Wilsons Transport and the role that agriculture plays in our economy is well recognized by the Company.

With a fleet of modern Stock Trucks and a variety of vehicles suited for cartage of Wool, Hay, Fertiliser and other Bulk products, Wilsons Transport is well positioned to offer our rural clients a full range of services.

DAIRY PRODUCTS

As a member in Dairy Transport Logistics Ltd ( refer www.dtlnz.co.nz ), Wilsons Transport is a strategic partner to Fonterra Co-operative Group Ltd.

Responsibility for transporting export dairy goods from manufacturing plants to Coolstores in Dunedin is work that Wilsons Transport has undertaken for many years.

The transportation of Fonterra's “high value” liquid products between plants is also a responsibility of Wilsons Transport, work that requires a 24 hour, 7 day a week operation.

Like many of Wilsons Transports activities, service to Fonterra requires a high standard of driver training and leading edge management systems and technology.

TIMBER AND FORESTRY

With the continued growth in forestry throughout the Otago/Southland region, Wilsons Transport has maintained an involvement in this industry.

Specialising predominately in the cartage of timber products, Wilsons Transport provides a transport service to some of the largest manufacturing plants and sawmills in the region.

FERTILISER CARTAGE & SPREADING

With its long and proud history in the fertiliser business, Wilsons Transport carts significant volumes of fertiliser and lime throughout the lower part of the South Island.

With a history of operating modern fertiliser Spreaders, Wilsons Transport has continued to investigate better systems and technology to ensure its customers received the highest standard of service available. As an example of this, Wilsons Transport was one of the first Companies to achieve "Spreadmark Certification" in the South Island.

With the availability of new technology which provides vastly improved accuracy and management information for fertiliser placement, Wilsons Transport has entered into a joint venture with Ravensdown Fertiliser Co-operative Ltd and established Advanced Spreading Ltd. This has facilitated the introduction of the most advanced spreading technology available in the world today and enables our customers to access information never before considered possible.
